foundation roundup

Foundation Round Up

I am a foundation lover, and it’s a make up product I would struggle to live without. The base for the rest of your make up is really important so finding a foundation that works for you is key to a flawless face. It’s even better if they are affordable and won’t break the bank, right? The amount of foundations I end up hating is countless so I’m going to share my top 4 foundations that have stood the test of time.

Revlon ColorStay

I have the formula that’s for combination/oily skin, but there is one designed for dry skin. This foundation is the perfect choice for nights out as it does not budge, you can enjoy the night dancing, and be sure you make up isn’t going to smudge – or move at all. There are around 14 shades and I’m happy to say the lightest shades are actually light and are not orange. A lot of affordable foundations can be orange and pale girls struggle to find a match!

I find this applies best with a damp beauty blender as it’s quite thick and medium to full coverage, if you apply with a foundation brush you will get higher coverage. This has a matte finish, I can go without powder when wearing this but if you are particularly oily then I would suggest using a finely milled powder to set it.

This will last 6-8 hours on my skin before it starts looking a bit worn out, but it rubs off evenly! I have not had any problems breaking out when using this either, so overall this a great foundation! A lot of people will compare this to Estee Lauder – double wear. This foundation comes in at £12.99 which is the most expensive of the 4.

Maybelline Fit Me – Matte+Poreless

This has become the foundation I reach for the most. It’s in a squeeze tube, it’s light and fuss free. It feels light, fresh on my skin, and gives a flawless smooth natural finish.  The shade choice is amazing, I think there’s 20 shades, depending on which drugstore you visit.  This foundation is only £6.99 so I believe it’s a true bargain. It will last on my skin 5-6 hours, but looks fine with touch ups if you need to wear it for longer. I just love this foundation and I would recommend it to anyone. This particular foundation is for normal to oily skin but they do have another fit me formula that is for dry skin. The finish is semi-matte, you can still see skins natural glow coming through.

Bourjois Healthy Mix

This foundation is the one to use if you want a dewy finish. It’s really hydrating and gives a natural glow. If you have oily skin, then you will need to set this with powder! I like to wear this for lunch dates as its comfortable to wear and it perks up skin really well making you look wide awake! I have written a full review on this foundation so go have a ready of that here. This is £9.99

L’Oréal True Match

Last but not least. The formula of this is velvet smooth and makes skin look on point. I feel like a porcelain doll when I wear this. I would say you can wear this foundation if you are dry or oily as the finish is somewhere between matte and dewy – so you could make it work either way. This has a shade choice that goes on forever, covering all under tones so it’s really easy to find your match. This will last around 5 hours on skin, so it doesn’t have the best staying power but I will usually wear it when I don’t need to keep my make up on a long time. This is £9.99 but Boots usually have this on offer for £7.99.

Thanks for reading, what are your favourite foundations?
