Everyone wants to look bronzed and glowing, I wonder why? Because its makes us look slimmer, healthier and every outfit seems to look better with a tan. So, fake tan has become part of our beauty regime and I personally cannot live without it even though my boyfriend always moans about having to help do my back!!

Over the years I have tried a lot of fake tans, St Tropez, Loreal, St Moritz, Vita Liberata, gradual tans in all the different formulas, milks, lotions, mousse, sprays and oils! Gosh, there is so much choice out there but I have finally found my HG tan! BondiSands. So let me tell you why I love this so much.

I had heard so much hype about this tanner on social media so I thought I need to give it a try. I’m so glad I did.

It goes on the skin smoothly and its easy to blend. It smells delicious when applying, the telltale fake tan smell does creep up on you after a few hours but its not as bad as others I’ve tried. It goes on with a colour guide so you can see where you have applied it which is really helpful. Its a mousse which tend to be the easier tanners to apply in my experience. I usually tan before bed so I can leave it on for as long as possible, I always leave it on or 6 hours or more, never less I find it gives the best results .

So, the colour , oh my the colour was a delight – it looked like I had a natural tan, beautiful olive skin. Not a tinge of orange, Hallelujah. I used the dark version, but I always do buy dark with any brand as I do prefer a deep tan. I am naturally fair skinned, so if you are too, you don’t need to shy away from ‘dark’ it will just give you a deeper colour rather than a subtle glow that a light or medium would give you.

One of the best things that made me fall for this tan was how well it faded, it lasted about 4 days but it faded evenly – no scaly snakeskin, it didn’t cling to my dry patches. I was so happy about this as in the past I’ve had to scrub and scrub to remove the tan and have had to look patchy for days. What a result. Thank you BondiSands.

My Tips For A Flawless Fake Tan

  • Preparation – Aim to prep your skin 12 hours or more before tanning. First thing to do is shave any unwanted hair, you really don’t want to shave after the tan as it wont last as long. Next thing to do is exfoliate your skin, I normally do this in the bath with an exfoliating hand mitt. Make sure to exfoliate all over the body and paying extra attention to dry areas of the body, knees, ankles, elbows, bra line and arm pits. Also I add a tablespoon of coconut oil in the bath, this helps to soften skin and lock in moisture. Next step would be to moisturise your whole body, I prefer to use a light moisturiser for this, I am currently using Nivea intensive care spray. Its really light and sinks into the skin easily.
  • Application – you will need a tanning mitt! I never use gloves as its really hard to get an even tan, but with a mitt you will get the best results. Everyone is different but I always start from the bottom and work my way up the body. I normally use 2 pumps per section. Now what you want to do is apply moisturiser to all the dry areas I mentioned, this will help blend the tan seamlessly and not cling to the dry skin. Start applying the tan to which ever leg you want to start with, from the bottom to top do light strokes in an upward motion, do not rub in or use circular motion – this is what causes streaking. Sweep upwards from bottom to top. When doing you hands, sweep the tan from the wrist and apply with very lightly and then pop on some moisturiser and work into the skin, take it down the arm slightly, so you don’t get any harsh lines. I do apply tan to my face, I do this last with the tan that’s just left on the mitt. If you have sensitive skin you can skip tanning the face and use a foundation that matches your tan.
  • After Care – Moisturise every day, this is must to stop patching and flaking! I also recommend using an exfoliating scrub, something less harsh then a hand mitt for your dry areas- I would do this every other day. I normally reapply my tan every 4 or 5 days when I have time.

Happy Tanning, and let me know how you get on!
